Ideas for Imbolc
Imbolc also known as Brigid's Day or St Brigid Day (a traditional Gaelic festival). Held on the 1-2nd of Feb it marks the beginning of Spring. It is also the halfway mark between Winter Solstice (Yule) and Spring Equinox (Ostara). During this time we begin to release the old and prepare to welcome new growth, abundance and opportunities the same as traditionally we would have welcomed the new harvest growth. Traditionally people would celebrate this holiday by burning lamps and bonfires, creating altars or allowing space to welcome the goddess spirit of Brigid into their homes. They would welcome her with offerings such as oats, and rushes. Here are some ideas for you to celebrate Imbolc, some of them are super supple and perfect if you are new to the path or still closeted.
1. Wear White. Traditionally Brigid is connected to the colors White, Green and Red. But she wore white.
2. Spring clean. I like to energetically and physically cleanse my space as well as sorting through my winter wardrobe allowing myself to take items that i no longer use or need to the charity shop. I always thank the clothing or items for their service and time with me before i donate them.
3. Set up your Altar. You can add your brigids cross or doll, a white candle, green white or red crystals, fire element, cauldron or bessom, goddess statue and so on.
4. Change your routine, from winter to spring for new motivation and energy.
5. Get your goals for the year in order ready to manifest.
6. Connect to nature, running water/ stream, trees, clean up plastic or rubbish to help mother nature.
7. Releasing and Manifesting ritual.
8. Have a bonfire/ bbq to celebrate the goddess of Fire.
9. Add intention into your food/ drinks/ kitchen magick.
10. Gather seeds to hold on your Altar space to charge your intention for the year before they're ready to be planted during Ostara.
Use this time to set up good routines, or start to prepare your manifestations and goals for the year ahead. This is the perfect time to also start kitchen magic and intentional baking. Hope these can be helpful!
Enjoy
